Shodo is widely known for his woodblock print Bijin-ga series "One Hundred Beauties Depicting Modern and Ancient Manners and Customs". It is little known outside of Japan that he was also a prolific scroll painter of landscape scenes. This kacho-e scene, featuring a raven on a branch in autumn, is a very rare and beautiful subject for Shodo.
